Bali Faced With Threat of Mount Agung Eruption

As Bali awaits it’s most beloved and also feared Mount Agung to erupt as predicted by scientists we have been getting lots of questions on how to help those in need.

The situation:
Two weeks ago, Bali scientist were raising the alarms to a serious level as strong activity was being measured.

Thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes amid fears that Mount Agung could erupt for the first time in over 50 years. Almost 2,000 people were killed when the volcano erupted in March 1963, which also destroyed multiple villages around the mountain. This time around a 12 kilometer (7.5 mile) exclusion zone has been set up around the volcano, on the northeastern side of Bali.

Located at around 70 kilometers (42,5 miles) from Mount Agung is quite far from Bali’s main tourist areas of Kuta and Seminyak. Aircraft have been advised to avoid the area, but as of Monday morning no flights had been canceled, a spokesman for Bali Airport told CNN.

Thankfully a lot of emergency actions have already been taken. Succesfull crowdfunding to help give water supplies to those in need has been done by the Kopernik Foundation.

If you are in Bali currently, make sure to have a water supply for at least 72 hours, and ash masks available for yourself and family/ friends. If you have pets make sure to have them stay inside as the ashes that come from the volcano during the eruption are sharp and very harmful to your/ their health.

Stay Safe!
